About This Song
About "William Tell : Rossini: William Tell: Overture" by Academy Of St Martin In The Fields
Rossini's galloping overture summons a lone archer splitting an apple—precision as theatre. The Academy's strings whip up a storm of dawn-light fanfare, then dissolve into a pastoral hush. Tension between martial swagger and tender lyricism makes this a perfect miniature of heroic resolve.
