About "Children's Corner, CD 119 : Debussy: Children's Corner, CD 119: VI. Cakewalk" by Alexis Weissenberg
Debussy's cakewalk struts with a sly, syncopated grin. Weissenberg plays up the ragtime swagger, but there's a knowing irony in the bounce—a child's parody of adult dance, cheerful and off-kilter, where the rhythm's jaunty steps keep tripping over their own shadow.
