About This Song
About "Beatus vir (Psalm 111), RV 597 : Vivaldi: Beatus vir (Psalm 111), RV 597: VIII. Largo – Presto. Peccator videbit – Allegro (Antifonia). Beatus vir" by Anthony Rolfe Johnson
Vivaldi’s psalm setting pivots on a dime: the Largo’s solemn 'Peccator videbit' dissolves into an Allegro of antiphonal fire. Anthony Rolfe Johnson’s tenor cuts through the sacred din, a lone voice staring down judgment. The tension between penitence and defiance crackles like candle smoke in a Baroque chapel.
