About "Pictures at an Exhibition (Orch. Ravel) : Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition (Orch. Ravel): II. The Old Castle" by Chicago Symphony Orchestra
Ravel's orchestration of Mussorgsky paints an old castle as a looming stone ghost. A saxophone's mournful song drifts through empty halls, evoking a troubadour's lament for a vanished age. The music is stately yet haunted—calm on the surface, but trembling with the weight of centuries and the quiet ache of solitude.
