About "Prélude in C-Sharp Minor, Op. 45 : Chopin: Prélude in C-Sharp Minor, Op. 45: Sostenuto" by Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli
Michelangeli’s sostenuto is a held breath: the C-sharp minor prelude unfolds like a single, unbroken sigh. Calm is a thin veneer; beneath it, a tremble of unresolved longing, as if the music is waiting for a door to open.
