About This Song
About "Should've Known Better" by Billy Preston
Preston’s funk-inflected soul cut simmers with regret. A tight rhythm section and stabbing horns frame a vocal that’s equal parts defiance and sorrow. The tension is in the groove—a danceable beat carrying the weight of hindsight, where the body moves but the mind lingers on a mistake.
