About This Song
About "Rigoletto / Act 1 : Verdi: Rigoletto / Act 1: "Gualtier Maldè! ... Caro nome"" by Angela Gheorghiu
Gilda's 'Caro nome' is rendered as a secret garden—tender, enclosed, dangerously fragrant. Gheorghiu floats the coloratura like petals on a dark pond, the innocence of first love shadowed by the audience's foreboding. Verdi's melody as fragile architecture.
