About This Song
About "Turandot, Act I : Puccini: Turandot, Act I: Signore, ascolta!" by Barbara Hendricks
Puccini's doomed princess gets a reading of startling intimacy from Hendricks, who scales the aria down to a whisper. The orchestra swells like a distant tide, but her 'Signore, ascolta!' is a private prayer—fear and dignity braided together, a flicker of humanity against the ice of legend.
