About "Romeo and Juliet, Op. 64 / Act II : Prokofiev: Romeo and Juliet, Op. 64 / Act II: No. 30, Public Merrymaking" by Boston Symphony Orchestra
Public merrymaking bursts with carnival brass and dizzying strings, a whirl of masks and hidden daggers. Prokofiev's brilliance lies in the tension: the crowd's euphoria barely conceals the threat of violence, each dance step a prelude to bloodshed.
