About "Countermove" by Carter Burwell
Countermove is Burwell at his most coiled: a bass ostinato stalks beneath glassy keyboard figures, each shift a chess piece sliding into place. The tension is procedural, almost serene—until the harmony twists, and strategy becomes threat.
