About This Song
About "Now's the time" by Charlie Parker
A bebop clarion call from Bird's early quintet sessions, where breakneck alto lines spiral like smoke through a crowded Manhattan cellar. The title promises urgency, but Parker's phrasing hides a restless ache beneath the swing—each note a flicker of joy wrestling with the night's unease.
