About This Song
About "Scarlatti, D: Stabat Mater in C Minor: I. Stabat Mater dolorosa" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
Scarlatti's 'Stabat Mater' opens with a mother's grief, rendered in poised Baroque lines. The choir's tone is luminous yet heavy, as if carrying sorrow through a marble corridor. There is no melodrama here—only a quiet, devastating dignity, each suspension a held breath before the next wave of pain.
