About "Concerto grosso No. 6 in D Major (After Scarlatti) : Avison: Concerto grosso No. 6 in D Major (After Scarlatti): I. Largo (Unknown)" by Academy Of St Martin In The Fields
This Avison concerto grosso, after Scarlatti, opens with a Largo of stately, processional calm. Strings move like slow processionals through a marble hall—dignified, restrained. Yet a subtle harmonic ache lingers, a tension between Baroque order and a whispered, unresolved longing. Serene but not entirely at peace.
