About This Song
About "Matthäus-Passion, BWV 244, Pt. 1 : J.S. Bach: Matthäus-Passion, BWV 244, Pt. 1: No. 6, Aria. Buss und Reu (Alto)" by Christa Ludwig
The aria 'Buss und Reu' pulses with penitential ardor, Ludwig's mezzo carving each syllable into a small confession. The oboe weaves around her like a second conscience—sorrow so refined it becomes almost sweet, the heart breaking and mending in the same breath.
