About This Song
About "Matthäus-Passion, BWV 244, Pt. 2 : J.S. Bach: Matthäus-Passion, BWV 244, Pt. 2: No. 30, Aria. Ach nun ist mein Jesu hin (Alto, Chorus II)" by Christa Ludwig
A lone alto voice pierces the Passion's second half with aching clarity, suspended between grief and surrender. The aria's descending lines evoke a candle guttering in a stone chapel, its flicker illuminating the space where Jesus has vanished. Baroque counterpoint becomes a vessel for raw, devotional emptiness.
