About This Song
About "Matthäus-Passion, BWV 244, Pt. 1 : J.S. Bach: Matthäus-Passion, BWV 244, Pt. 1: No. 13, Aria. Ich will dir mein Herz schenken (Soprano)" by Gundula Janowitz
Bach's 'Ich will dir mein Herz schenken' is an offering of quiet fire. Janowitz sings with chamber-like intimacy, her soprano a hand extended in the dark. The oboe lines weave around her like ivy, and the gift she promises feels both tender and dangerously absolute.
