About "La finta semplice, K. 51, Act I : Mozart: La finta semplice, K. 51, Act I: No. 7b, Aria. Grand'uomo che son io" by Barbara Hendricks
A peacock’s aria: Grand’uomo che son io, a self-portrait in pompous trills. Hendricks inflates the bluster with comic precision, the orchestra prancing alongside. The melody struts, but the harmony winks. Mozart’s satire is gentle yet exact, a mirror held up to vanity.
