About "La finta semplice, K. 51, Act II : Mozart: La finta semplice, K. 51, Act II: Recit. Me ne vo' prender spasso" by Barbara Hendricks
A recitative that struts with self-satisfied energy. The singer's rapid patter mimics a peacock's display, each phrase a little flourish of vanity. Yet the underlying harmonies wobble slightly, suggesting that this bravado is a thin veneer over deeper insecurities—comedy with a knowing wink.
