About "La finta semplice, K. 51, Act II : Mozart: La finta semplice, K. 51, Act II: Recit. Siam quasi in porto adesso" by Barbara Hendricks
The act nears its close with a recitative that breathes a sigh of near-relief. 'Siam quasi in porto'—almost in port—yet the vocal line's lingering cadences suggest the harbor is still out of reach. The music's gentle rocking motion is both soothing and unsettling, a calm that knows it cannot last.
