About This Song
About "Messiah, HWV 56 / Pt. 2 : Handel: Messiah, HWV 56 / Pt. 2: 29. "He was cut off"" by Arleen Augér
A single, desolate line: 'He was cut off.' Augér delivers it with devastating restraint, the silence after each phrase heavier than the notes. The emotional tension is between the starkness of the text and the singer's held-back grief—a whisper that echoes in a vast, empty space.
