About "Des Knaben Wunderhorn : Mahler: Des Knaben Wunderhorn: Trost im Unglück (Live at Severance Hall, Cleveland, 2010)" by Christian Gerhaher
Trost im Unglück is a wry consolation: Gerhaher tosses off Mahler’s folkish irony with a shrug and a smirk. The melody skips like a stone on a gray lake—comfort that knows it’s temporary, a bandage over a wound that still throbs.
