About "Mahler: Totenfeier (1st Version of Symphony No. 2/I)" by Chicago Symphony Orchestra
This early Totenfeier is a funeral rite in miniature, its opening brass calls like tolling bells. The Chicago Symphony under Boulez conjures a solemn, processional atmosphere, the music heavy with grief yet pulsing with dramatic life—a first draft of Mahler's Resurrection, already brimming with existential weight.
