About This Song
About "Kindertotenlieder : Mahler: Kindertotenlieder: No. 3, Wenn dein Mütterlein" by Anne Sofie Von Otter
‘Wenn dein Mütterlein’ finds von Otter in a chamber of ghosts: a mother imagines her child’s footsteps, her voice a tender haunting. The strings creep like shadows on a wall. Mahler’s grief is not loud but insidious, and von Otter makes every syllable a small, devastating act of remembrance.
