About "Symphony No. 9 : Mahler: Symphony No. 9: II. Im Tempo eines gemächlichen Ländlers" by Chicago Symphony Orchestra
A clumsy country dance stumbles into view, its ländler rhythms both rustic and ironic. The Chicago Symphony plays with earthy vigor, yet Boulez highlights the music's ghostly undertow—a village celebration haunted by shadows. The result is a scherzo that smiles through its unease, charming and unsettling in equal measure.
