About "Handel: Messiah, HWV 56, Pt. 1, Scene 1: Aria. "Ev'ry Valley Shall Be Exalted"" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
The aria 'Ev'ry Valley Shall Be Exalted' skips and leaps like a stream finding its way downhill—buoyant, almost giddy. Yet Handel's melismas carry a quiet insistence: every low place lifted, every rough edge smoothed. The tenor's joy is disciplined, a celebration that knows it must first level the ground.
