About "Handel: Messiah, HWV 56, Pt. 2, Scene 2: Accompagnato. "He Was Cut Off"" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
The accompagnato cuts like a blade: 'He was cut off.' The tenor's declamation is stark, the orchestra a cold wind. Handel strips away all ornament, leaving only the raw fact of death. The final phrase hangs unresolved, a door left ajar to the grave.
