About "Handel: Messiah, HWV 56, Pt. 1, Scene 2: Accompagnato. "Thus Saith the Lord"" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
Thus Saith the Lord' is a bass recitative of terrifying intimacy—God's voice not thunderous but close, almost whispered. The accompaniment flickers like candlelight in a draft. Here, divine authority arrives as a quiet shock, the ground shifting beneath the listener's feet before any chorus can reassure.
