About This Song
About "Ceremony of Carols, Op. 28 : Britten: Ceremony of Carols, Op. 28: Wolcom Yule!" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
A burst of rustic energy: 'Wolcom Yule!' is Britten's medieval shout of joy. The choir's crisp consonants and dancing rhythms evoke frosty breath and stamping feet, yet a thread of modal austerity keeps the celebration from tipping into mere nostalgia.
