About This Song
About "Ceremony of Carols, Op. 28 : Britten: Ceremony of Carols, Op. 28: Recession" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
The 'Recession' of Britten's Ceremony of Carols processes away like candlelight fading down a nave. The choir's unaccompanied lines recede into silence, leaving a resonant ache. It's a farewell that feels both ceremonial and intimateâa door closing on wonder, softly.
