About This Song
About "The Bird" by Charlie Parker
Parker names himself ‘The Bird’ and takes flight: a strutting, self-mythologizing theme that feels both celebratory and cagey. The alto’s rapid, circling lines suggest wings beating against invisible limits. Swagger meets a flicker of melancholy—fame as a gilded aviary, the song a portrait of restless genius in motion.
