About "Blues For Alice" by Charlie Parker Quintet
'Blues For Alice' is a bebop blues with a bittersweet edge, the title's dedication lending a wistful air. Parker's quintet swings with deceptive ease, but the improvisations bristle with nervous energy—calm melody versus agitated runs, a dialogue between memory and motion.
