About "Tico Tico" by Charlie Parker And His Orchestra
Parker's 'Tico Tico' is a breakneck Latin-inflected romp, all quicksilver sax lines and percussive drive. The title's birdlike chirp mirrors the melody's fluttering energy, but beneath the joy lies a frantic, almost manic tension. It's virtuosity as a tightrope walk.
