About This Song
About "Carnaval, Op. 9 : Schumann: Carnaval, Op. 9: XV. Pantalon et Colombine" by Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli
Pantalon and Colombine tumble through Michelangeli's fingers like commedia dell'arte puppets—staccato leaps and sudden pauses mimic a lovers' chase. The pianist's crisp articulation turns the piano into a stage, where flirtation and farce collide in breathless counterpoint.
