About "Préludes / Book 1, L. 117 : Debussy: Préludes / Book 1, L. 117: XII. Minstrels" by Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli
Debussy's 'Minstrels' is a wry, affectionate caricature. Michelangeli plays with a knowing wink, the music strutting and swaying like a street performer. The tension lies between the jaunty, outward show and a subtle melancholy, as if the carnival is packing up.
