About This Song
About "Lieder ohne Worte VII, Op. 85 : Mendelssohn: Lieder ohne Worte VII, Op. 85: II. Allegro agitato, MWV U101 "Adieu"" by Daniel Barenboim
A restless Allegro agitato nicknamed 'Adieu,' this piece churns with the ache of parting. Barenboim's touch is urgent yet restrained, notes scattering like footsteps retreating down a corridor. The tension between farewell and refusal to let go gives the music its bittersweet, forward-leaning pulse.
