About This Song
About "Lieder ohne Worte IV, Op. 53 : Mendelssohn: Lieder ohne Worte IV, Op. 53: V. Volkslied. Allegro con fuoco, MWV U153" by Daniel Barenboim
A Volkslied with fire: Barenboim takes the Allegro con fuoco at face value, letting the folk-like melody crackle with rustic energy. It's a village dance seen through a Romantic lens—earthy, direct, yet polished to a gleam that never quite erases the smell of woodsmoke.
