About This Song
About "Lieder ohne Worte VII, Op. 85 : Mendelssohn: Lieder ohne Worte VII, Op. 85: IV. Andante sostenuto, MWV U190 "Elegy"" by Daniel Barenboim
Titled 'Elegy,' this Andante sostenuto moves with the gravity of a slow procession. Barenboim lets each chord toll, the melody draped in velvet shadow. There is grief here, but also a strange serenity—the calm of remembering, not the storm of loss. The piano exhales, and the room listens.
