About This Song
About "Lieder ohne Worte VIII, Op. 102 : Mendelssohn: Lieder ohne Worte VIII, Op. 102: III. Presto, MWV U195 "Tarantelle"" by Daniel Barenboim
Nicknamed 'Tarantelle,' this Presto is a whirlwind with a bite. Barenboim's fingers spin a dizzying web, the rhythm snapping like a folk dance gone slightly feral. It's all nervous energy and glittering motion, the calm of the surrounding pieces shattered by a sudden, exhilarating storm.
