About This Song
About "6 Kinderstücke Op. 72 : Mendelssohn: 6 Kinderstücke Op. 72: II. Andante sostenuto, MWV U 170" by Daniel Barenboim
Andante sostenuto: a lullaby stretched thin by time. Barenboim's touch is velvet over stone, the melody suspended like a mobile above a crib. There's tenderness here, but also a shadow—the child sleeps, the world waits, and the sostenuto holds both in uneasy balance.
