About This Song
About "Lieder ohne Worte VII, Op. 85 : Mendelssohn: Lieder ohne Worte VII, Op. 85: I. Andante espressivo, MWV U150" by Daniel Barenboim
Barenboim opens Mendelssohn's Op. 85 with a hushed Andante espressivo, fingers tracing a melody like breath on glass. The calm is deceptive: beneath the lyrical surface, a quiet longing stirs, each phrase a door left ajar. The piano becomes a voice without words, speaking in tender, unresolved sighs.
