About This Song
About "Terry: 12 Christmas Carols: No. 8, Myn Lyking. "I Saw a Fair Mayden"" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
Terry's setting of 'I Saw a Fair Mayden' is a Tudor miniature, its modal harmonies like frost on a windowpane. The carol's intimacy is striking—a whispered annunciation, the virgin's consent rendered in bare, aching intervals. It's music that feels discovered, not composed, its beauty inseparable from its humility.
