About This Song
About "Hassler: O Sacred Head, Sore Wounded (Harm. Bach)" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
Hassler's chorale, harmonized by Bach, is a slow procession toward the cross. The King's College voices carry the melody like a burden, each chord a nail. There's no melodrama, only the stark beauty of surrender—the title's wound made audible in the choir's unwavering, aching stillness.
