About This Song
About "Barber: Agnus Dei (Choral Version of the Adagio)" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
Barber's Adagio, stripped of strings and clothed in Latin, becomes an act of collective supplication. The famous ascending motif now carries the weight of 'Lamb of God'—each suspension a held breath, each resolution a quiet absolution. The choir's restraint amplifies the grief, turning a concert-hall warhorse into something unbearably intimate.
