About "Sculthorpe: The Birthday of thy King" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
Sculthorpe's setting of George Herbert is a still, cold night under a vast sky. The choir's harmonies shimmer like frost on glass, sparse and luminous. The birthday of thy King is celebrated not with fanfare but with a hush—a fragile, wondering tension between the cosmic and the intimate.
