About "Byrd: O Lord Make Thy Servant Elizabeth" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
Byrd's prayer for Queen Elizabeth unfurls like a tapestry woven from plainchant and polyphony, each voice a thread of loyalty. The choir's tone is regal yet human, balancing ceremony with a private plea. It's music of duty, but the undercurrent is anxietyâa monarch's health as fragile as the fading cadence.
