About "Allegri: Miserere mei, Deus" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
Allegri's Miserere is a ghost story told in sound: a plainchant foundation haunted by a soaring, ornamented treble line. The famous 'high C' hangs in the air like a suspended tear, each repetition of the plea for mercy growing more urgent. The choir's spatial separation creates an echo of penitence, ancient and immediate.
