About This Song

About "Weelkes: Alleluia, I Heard a Voice, a 5" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge

Weelkes’ five-part Alleluia is a sudden blaze: imitation ricochets like light off gold leaf, each voice a distinct flame. The joy is not serene but startled—a collective gasp of recognition, held in the tight weave of Renaissance counterpoint.
