About This Song
About "Schubert: Gebet, Op. Posth. 139 No. 1, D. 815: Bereit bin ich zu sterben" by Choir Of King's College, Cambridge
Schubert confronts mortality with startling directness: 'I am ready to die.' The choir's tone remains luminous, almost serene, yet the harmonic ground shifts like sand. It's a acceptance that feels earned, not resigned—a quiet courage wrapped in choral velvet.
